Digital Marketing Designer/Developer

General

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will oversee graphical/visual design, web development, email marketing, and streaming audio/video for digital marketing initiatives related to Warner Music Canada artists and projects. This is a full-time position, available immediately.

Duties

Design:
o Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to develop web ‘banner’ ads in various sizes and specifications (jpeg, gif, Flash) for online artist marketing campaigns and projects.
o Produce graphics, images and other visual elements for internal use


Website development and content management:
o Using an internal Content Management System, update content and information to Warner websites (warnermusic.ca, sayitwithmusic.ca, etc)
o Work closely with the local and US Digital Properties team to ensure all aspects of www.warnermusic.ca are functioning as per specifications
o Regular diagnostics/testing for usability and potential improvements to the websites
o Develop artist promotional web pages and microsites as required by the Digital Marketing team
o Analytics/Research: actively assess traffic and activity on Warner websites via key analytics tools (Omniture, Google Analytics, etc)


Email Marketing:
o Manage all aspects of Warner Music’s email marketing platform (SilverPop), including the creation and update of templates, integration of dynamic content (as per user preferences), and overall program expertise
o Create all visual elements for weekly newsletters within the SilverPop platform, including layout and the placement/optimization of content created by the Digital Marketing team.
o Maintain data integrity of Warner Music Canada’s email marketing database. Ensure that all user data is sorted according to preferences, and that unique/separate lists are maintained and utilized effectively


Artist websites / Social Media:
o When necessary, update, develop and help maintain artists’ web sites and social networking pages/accounts


Audio/Video production and streaming:
o Oversee the encoding and streaming of Warner Music audio/video content via the Brightcove application – maintain all active streaming media links
o Video editing of artist content to be used in online promotions and features


Other:
o Assist in developing and executing contests, artist features, and other online promotions
o Assist in the development of unique artist content and digital assets


Required Skills

• Expertise in graphical/digital design – advanced Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop skills are essential - strong understanding of graphics and file format compatibility
• Expertise in Adobe Flash design – ability to build to spec (low filesize) FLV movies for banners, microsites, etc.
• Web development skills required – HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, MySQL, ActionScript
• Significant experience using website Content Management Systems
• Experience using Email Marketing / database software – familiarity with the SilverPop platform is a major asset
• Audio and video encoding/streaming media applications – experience with the Brightcove platform required
• Amateur/Semi-professional Video Editing experience (Premiere, FinalCutPro, etc)
• Excellent organizational skills – ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• The ability to think creatively and contribute new ideas and concepts to marketing plans
• Knowledge of relevant digital and social media applications and platforms, and a familiarity with how music is consumed online, and through mobile devices
• A solid understanding of online culture and trends in both digital content and marketing

Digital Marketing Co-ordinator


Duties:

• Collaborate with the Digital Marketing team to develop online marketing plans (including ad buys) for artists’ releases, with the goal of increasing artist awareness and driving sales
• Oversee and execute Digital Marketing plans and budgets with all relevant online outlets and agencies in Canada
• Track and analyze effectiveness of campaigns
• Within the Marketing team, assist in developing and executing contests, artist features, album/video premieres and other online promotions
• Develop unique artist content and digital assets and distribute to relevant major web outlets
• Update artists’ web sites, MySpace pages, Facebook profiles and groups, and other Warner-controlled online sources
• Using an internal Content Management System, update content and information to Warner websites (warnermusic.ca, warnerurban.com)
• Occasionally create/edit graphics (i.e. banner advertisements) and other multimedia tools to support Digital Marketing initiatives
• Reports to the Digital Marketing Manager

Required Skills:

• A solid understanding of Online culture, and all key publishers/brands covering music
• A thorough understanding of trends in digital marketing
• Knowledge of relevant digital music applications and platforms, and a familiarity with how music is consumed online, and through mobile devices
• Essential: Marketing training and practical experience planning and booking campaigns
• Experience managing campaign budgets efficiently and effectively
• Experience working with online advertising agencies / publishers
• Strong interpersonal skills
• The ability to think creatively and contribute new ideas and concepts to marketing plans
• Graphic/Web design experience an asset
• Comfortable working with a back-end Content Management System
• Excellent organizational skills – ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
